Healthier Tahini Twix
Caramel cream, chocolate and a crunchy vanilla base - sounds like one of my favorite childhood sweets: Twix! The homemade version of these sweets are made with natural ingredients, tahini for a special twist and lesss sugar. And believe me or not: they taste even better than the bought ones!
Servings: 12 bars
Cooking time: 30 minutes Total time: 2h
You need for the
…base:
150g oat flour
50g maple syrup
25g coconut oil
25g tahini
A pinch of salt
½ tsp vanilla
…caramel layer:
200g Medjool dates
50g tahini
50ml almond milk
A pinch of salt
…chocolate top:
125g dark vegan chocolate
1 tbsp coconut oil
How to make:
1. For the base: mix at first all the wet ingredients: maple syrup, coconut oil and tahini. Then add oat flour, vanilla, salt and combine it well again. Next, press this dough into a form. I´ve made in total 12 bars.
2. Secondly, add all the ingredients of the caramel layer: Medjool dates, tahini, almond milk and salt to your blender. Important: if your Medjool dates are kind of hard, better soak them for 15-20 minutes in hot water, so that it is easier to get a smooth texture at the end. Spread this caramel onto your bars and put them for one hour in the freeze.
3. Lastly, melt chocolate and coconut oil and pour this on top of your bars and freeze them for 15 minutes again. Then they are ready to be enjoyed!
